The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has introduced a user-friendly online portal for teacher transfers, streamlining the application process.

Teachers can now apply for transfers without the need for manual application forms.

To apply for a transfer, follow these steps:

  1. Visit the TSC online transfer application portal: TSC Transfer Application Portal.
  2. Enter your TSC Number, ID Number, and mobile phone number in the provided fields.
  3. Upon clicking ‘Login,’ you will receive a security code (a six-digit authorization code) via SMS from TSC.
  4. Enter the authorization code received on your mobile phone before logging in.
  5. After successful login, the system will determine if you are a primary or post-primary teacher.
  6. Click on ‘Submit a Request for Transfer’ to proceed.
  7. Fill in all required details and check the declaration box.

Required Details

When applying for a transfer through the TSC Transfer Portal, you will need to provide the following required details:

  1. Length of stay at your present school
  2. Length of stay in the same subcounty
  3. Reason for requesting the transfer
  4. Any additional details you deem necessary
  5. When you need the transfer to be effective
  6. County where your current school is located
  7. Sub-county where your current school is located
  8. Name of your current school
  9. Your email address

Make sure to fill out all the required fields accurately to ensure a smooth transfer process.

To comply with the declaration, please tick the box next to the statement below:

“I hereby declare that the information in this application is true to the best of my knowledge. I am also aware that any false information will lead to direct disqualification or disciplinary action by the Teachers Service Commission without further reference to me.”

After ticking the box and entering all the required details, click ‘OK.’

The system will then display your current station and the requested county.

If your transfer request is due to insecurity and/or medical grounds, click the ‘File Attachment(s)’ button to attach supporting document(s).

You can also edit, withdraw, or print the transfer request as needed.

To attach a document, click ‘Browse’ to select the file, enter any remarks you have, and check the dialogue box. Click ‘OK’ to attach the document.

Your attachment(s) will be displayed, and you can choose to remove or view them.

Finally, click the ‘Submit’ button to deliver your application. The application status will change to “Pending,” and it will continue to change as it progresses.

When you’re finished, click ‘Logout’ to exit the system. Your principal or head teacher will then take over the next steps of the process.

Reasons For Transfer

When applying for a transfer, it’s important to provide valid reasons to support your request.

Here are some common reasons you can consider including in your application:

  1. Aging parents: If your parents are elderly and you need to be closer to them to provide care and support.
  2. Insecurity: If you feel unsafe or there are security concerns in your current workplace.
  3. Joining spouse: If your spouse works or lives in a different location, and you need to be closer to them.
  4. Medical condition: If you or your child has a medical condition that requires specialized care or treatment not available at your current location.
  5. Overstaying: If you have been working at the same station for an extended period and are seeking a change for personal or professional growth.

It’s important to provide evidence supporting your reasons for transfer.

The Head of Institution (HOI) plays a crucial role in the transfer process.

They will receive transfer requests through institution emails and the HOI portal.

The HOI can recommend your transfer through two methods:

Email notification

Open the email notification, click the link to proceed, enter your comments as the HOI, and click the ‘Submit’ button.

HOI Portal

Go to the TSC website, click on Online Services, select HRMIS, and click on the ‘Teacher Transfer’ button.

Enter your TSC number, ID number, and mobile number to login.

An authorization code will be sent to your mobile number.

Enter the code and login to the HOI portal. Click on the incoming transfer requests, click the ‘Action’ button to recommend the transfer, enter your comments, and click ‘Submit.’

You can monitor the status of your transfer application online by logging into your account.

The status will be displayed on your dashboard. The Commission will also send a response via email.
