Why Joining a TVET College Makes Sense
Let’s discuss the financial aspect first.
Public TVET colleges in Kenya require a minimum tuition fee of Kshs 56,400 per year for courses at any level (Diploma, Certificate, or Artisan).
However, the government provides Kshs 30,000 as Capitation upon admission, making your annual cost only Kshs 26,400, which amounts to around Kshs 8,800 per term.
If you still can’t cover this amount, the government offers Kshs 40,000 per year through HELB (Higher Education Loans Board), with Kshs 26,400 going directly to your college to clear any fees balance and Kshs 13,600 going to your bank account for upkeep.

Beyond the financial aspect, there are compelling reasons to consider TVET education:
Excellent Employability
TVET courses focus on practical skills, making graduates highly employable in the industrial and technological sectors.
The government’s tax relief for institutions that hire TVET graduates further enhances job market opportunities.
Inclusive Admission
TVET colleges accept students with various grade levels.
With a C-, you can pursue a Diploma, a D Plain qualifies you for a certificate course, and even grades below D Plain (D- and E) open doors to Artisan courses.
In the 21st century, technical education is a pathway to success. Don’t miss out on the opportunities available at TVET institutions.
With this guide to the leading TVET colleges in Nairobi, you’re well-equipped to embark on the next stage of your educational journey.
We wish you all the best in your pursuit of technical skills and knowledge.
