As of August 28, 2023, the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) solidified an addendum Agreement to the 2021-2025 Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBA) with major teachers’ unions in Kenya.
This agreement brings forth a significant revision in the remuneration structure for teachers, effective in two phases starting from July 1, 2023.
The second phase, impacting those in service at that time, is slated for implementation on July 1, 2024.
Application Scope
The updates apply uniformly to all teachers currently employed by the Commission and actively serving as of July 1, 2023.
Incremental Dates Clarity
For teachers transitioning to the new salary scales, their existing incremental dates will be retained.
However, if the incremental date coincides with July 1, 2023, teachers will receive their annual increment on the current salary scales and then seamlessly convert to the new salary points from the same date.
Annual Salary Increment Assurance
The traditional annual salary increment for all teachers will persist in accordance with the Code of Regulations for Teachers (2015).
