Teaching is not just a profession; it’s a calling that requires dedication and hard work.
Teachers play a crucial role in shaping the future of our society by imparting knowledge and skills to the next generation.
However, like any other profession, teachers also need to be fairly compensated for their efforts.
The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) recognizes this and periodically reviews and adjusts the salaries of teachers to ensure they are commensurate with their skills, qualifications, and the cost of living.
In 2024, TSC teachers can expect salary increments in two ways: through the annual salary increment specified in each job group and through the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) negotiated increments.
The current CBA, negotiated by the Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) and the Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET), is being implemented from 2021 to 2025.
