Overview of the Role
As a Quality Assurance and Standards Officer at TSC, you will report to the Regional Director.
Your role will involve validating teachers’ applications for registration, ensuring compliance with performance standards, overseeing curriculum implementation, monitoring teacher performance, and upholding teaching standards.
Additionally, you will be responsible for training and capacity building of teachers to enhance their effectiveness in the classroom.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Compliance Monitoring
Ensure that performance standards are met and maintained.
- Assessment and Interviews
Invite and interview teachers, gathering relevant information for standards assessment.
- Performance Evaluation
Conduct performance assessments, discuss findings with teachers, and implement corrective actions for continuous improvement.
- Documentation and Reporting
Record teaching materials and document assessments for reporting purposes.
- Discipline Maintenance
Uphold discipline and work ethics among teachers to maintain professional standards.
- Report Compilation
Compile performance assessment reports and submit them to the Commission for necessary action.
- Collaboration
Coordinate joint standard assessments with relevant government agencies to ensure consistency and quality.
- Performance Monitoring
Regularly monitor teachers’ performance in schools to identify areas for improvement.
- Ad Hoc Responsibilities
Undertake any other duties assigned to promote teaching standards and quality education.
Qualifications and Requirements
To qualify for this position, applicants should meet the following criteria:
- Education
A Master’s Degree in Education or a Master’s Degree in a relevant subject area from a recognized university, along with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education.
- Experience
A minimum of 12 years’ experience in the teaching service, with at least three years in an administrative role.
- Skills
Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills are essential.
- Performance
Demonstrated merit in job performance.
- Legal Compliance
Must meet the requirements of Chapter 6 of the Constitution of Kenya 2010.
- Additional Advantage
A Certificate in Management Course (MC) lasting not less than four weeks from a recognized institution.
Remuneration Package
Successful candidates will enjoy an attractive remuneration package, including:
- Contract Terms
A five-year contract, renewable upon satisfactory performance.
- Salary and Benefits
A competitive basic salary within TSC Scale 11, ranging from 137,460 to 167,098 per month.
- Additional Benefits
Group Personal Accident/Wiba Cover, Comprehensive Medical Cover, House Allowance (region-based), Commuter Allowance, and Leave Allowance.
- Service Gratuity
A service gratuity equivalent to 31% of the basic salary for each year served, payable at the end of the contract or termination as per the agreement.
